14 Rozdział I - Obowiązki tłumacza Tłumacz powinien podejmować się tłumaczenia, jeśli posiada odpowiednie kwalifikacje do wykonania pracy w sposób profesjonalny. Tłumacz ponosi pełną odpowiedzialność za wykonane tłumaczenie. Tłumacz powinien dążyć do zachowania wierności wobec oryginału zgodnie z zasadami sztuki przekładu. Tłumacza obowiązuje przestrzeganie tajemnicy zawodowej. Tłumacz winien zachować bezstronność i rzetelnie służyć swymi umiejętnościami idei porozumiewania się między ludźmi. Tłumacz nie powinien przyjmować zleceń, które mogłyby przynieść ujmę jego godności zawodowej. Tłumacz ma obowiązek stałego doskonalenia swych umiejętności zawodowych poprzez rozwijanie sprawności językowych i tłumaczeniowych oraz pogłębianie wiedzy ogólnej. Tłumacz jest moralnie zobowiązany do przekazywania wiedzy młodszym i mniej doświadczonym kolegom. Tłumacz nie powinien przyjmować wynagrodzenia poniżej stawek ustalonych przez prawo lub zwyczaje zawodowe. Tłumacz ma moralny obowiązek okazywania lojalności wobec organizacji zawodowych, broniących jego interesów.

15 Rozdział II - Prawa tłumacza Tłumacz ma prawo domagać się godziwego wynagrodzenia za dobrze wykonaną pracę. Tłumacz ma prawo żądać zapewnienia mu godziwych warunków pracy, umożliwiających sprawne tłumaczenie ustne i pisemne. Tłumacz ma prawo żądać udostępnienia mu materiałów umożliwiających poprawne wykonanie tłumaczenia pisemnego lub ustnego. Tłumacz ma prawo domagać się przestrzegania prawa autorskiego, w tym prawa do umieszczenia nazwiska na publikowanym tłumaczeniu, zachowania integralności tłumaczenia i uzyskania przewidzianych przez prawo korzyści majątkowych. Tłumacz ma prawo odmówić wykonania tłumaczenia, jeśli przekracza ono zakres jego wiedzy albo sprawności językowych czy tłumaczeniowych.
