Setting Up DNS Records For Your Domain Name
Setting Up DNS Records For Your Domain Name Lync client executes a DNS query to find the Lync Online Service Therefore if your internet proxy or firewall is configured to block external SRV queries, the Lync client will not discover the Service and sing in To correct this, configure global DNS CNAME record that points to the O365 Lync Service. Configuring this as a global CNAME record is recommended, because it handles both internal and external cases. Example: Global CNAME: CNAME sip.<tenantdomain> to sipdir.online.lync.com Internal SRV record: SRV _sip._tls.<tenantdomain> to sipdir.online.lync.com:443
