6 What do we expect from libraries
Books (textbooks, monographs, legal acts, comments, dissertations etc.) Papers from scholarly journals (article author & title, journal title, volume, year, number/issue, pages) Newspaper contents: articles, comment, pictures etc. Data (statistics, indicators, facts) These all are texts. The Library is advising your how to acquire them, organize and use in your own work The texts you are looking for may be found : In your Library collections (printed and electronic) In the collections of other libraries Freely available on the Internet

7 Don’t stop short of acquiring the real full-lenght text!
No matter if you will use an original or a copy, you need the real work with the real author, complete and unaltered To identify this version of the text, you need bibliographic data You will find bibliographic data of books, journals, newspapers etc. in the library catalogue, but it is only showing you where the full text is to be found – in the library print collections, in an electronic database, or on the Internet. Request a full text with attached bibliographic data. Do not trust abstracts, notes, pieces, handwritten notes, photocopies without precise notes on contents Don’t waste your time. When you are working, look what you are going to save. Organize your own archive so that you can safely cite your readings in your own paper Do not limit yourself to the Internet resources. But never believe folks who are telling you that the Internet resources are not valid for quotation

9 Internet resources do count
Internet resources do count! They are as good as the printed material, if you can prove their credibility!
